Standards · The Position 2026

Where we stand.

The YogaPros institutional position for 2026 — the long-line stance the body holds on standards, accreditation, and the structural moves the global yoga teaching profession needs over the next decade.

The 2026 position

What the body stands for.

Each year the body re-states what it stands for — not because the position changes, but because the field shifts and the position must be re-said in the field’s current language.

We stand for experience-based grades.

Years and cumulative hours, not training-completion. The Senior Yoga Teacher requires eight years and four thousand hours. We will not lower this. The field needs a senior gatekeeper layer, not another flat certificate.

We stand for live-only contact hours.

Never pre-recorded. Never ‘blended.’ Never ‘asynchronous with optional live components.’ Real teachers are made by real teachers, in real time. We will not allow this to drift in 2026.

We stand for published standards.

Held in public, not in a desk drawer. The accreditation framework public. Standards of Conduct public. Audit outcomes public. State of Compliance published quarterly. If the body won’t publish what it holds, it doesn’t hold anything.

We stand for two-sided architecture.

Verified teachers on one side. Institutions that need them on the other (studios, gyms, corporate, retreats, NHS, prisons, government). The body sits between. The marketplace is the moat.

We stand for the four-pillar career.

Healthy. Successful. Ethical. Compliant. None optional. The career outcome members come for, held by the three pillars and the two institutional postures. No part of this is decorative.

We stand at the altitude of a Royal College.

The reference class is not the yoga industry. It’s the Royal College of Physicians, the Law Society, the Chartered institutes. If an output would feel out of place from a Royal College, we redo it.

Twenty years of holding this position. Another twenty — at minimum — ahead.

What 2026 brings

The institutional moves of the year.

01 · State of Yoga Teaching

Annual publication launches.

The flagship institutional document. Published once a year. Five chapters: standards landscape, member dynamics, training provider economics, insurance & compliance, the long line. Held to audit-grade standards.

02 · State of Compliance

Quarterly disclosure begins.

Public compliance disclosure of the body’s own audit outcomes, conduct decisions, removal-for-breach cases. Held to the same standards we hold members to. Published quarterly through 2026.

03 · SYT leadership pathway

Senior Yoga Teachers as institutional leaders.

The next layer above gatekeeping — developing SYTs as leaders in the field, the equivalent of Royal College Fellows. A programmatic ambition the body funds through 2026 and beyond.

04 · The Welcome Brief

Annual institutional charter document.

The 16-page foundation document that introduces YogaPros, the four standards, the three pillars, the marketplace architecture. Read by new members, new partners, new institutional contacts.

The body publishes its position once a year and stands by it. Names change. Tones soften and harden with the field’s cycles. The position itself — for twenty years — has not moved.
